NOW YOU MADE IT AWKWARD Ep154: "Going Back In The Closet"

Back this week unlike certain congress people. Shoky has been doing reviews again after nearly a year long hiatus. Jeff is about to leave for Alaska. Chad has a shiny head thanks to a poorly placed light.Shoky is going to Unsub Live in a couple months and at the same time Brandon Herrera is running for office again in Texas district 23. With the changes to the districts and a couple more years of experience he is likely to win. 
The National Guard has been deployed in Washington DC to help control the rampant crime. 
We will be on location live at Frankenboltzzzz Brewing Co THIS weekend August 23rd for a charity comedy event!
The Sandman has come to a close on Netflix. After a banger of a first season can the second and final season still hold up for the King of Dreams? 
Shaun asks us what vehicle we learned to drive in. 
RKF Jr is removing food dyes and other things from our food and also some ingredients in known childhood shots. 
Apparently there is a "Whites Only" town being established in Arkansas that is causing and uproar. Is it wrong in it's idea though? Or is it just going to end up being another culty commune?
Our favorite local brewery has a new owner and is back into production leading up to a Grand Reopening. 
Shoky and Mrs Shoky watched a series called "Take Care of Maya" on Netlfix. A documentary of a young girl with a rare pain disease that is taken from her family and held as a medical prisoner while the doctors make her mother into a criminal. Leading to a massive investigation into the hospital system uncovering how many more people have been through the same. What would you do if you took a sick child into the doctor and walked out framed a criminal?

Unlike Texas House Democrats we are back this week! Seriously, it's a problem that people who were elected to office have run away to other states to avoid casting votes for their constituents and doesn't seem like there is any legal ramifications. If I just got mad at my boss and stopped showing up for work I wouldn't have a job after just a few days. Why do these people get a different treatment?
Even though we are missing a Chad, Shaun asks us is there a proper way to eat corn-dogs, ice-cream or popsicles in public as a man without looking gay? Personally I think if you think it's gay then perhaps that says more about your sexuality than mine. But this leads to a discussion about what Shoky cooked this week: the Trailer Park Wellington. The ultimate fancy corn-dog!
In far more important news, the gun manufacturer Sig Sauer is in hot water for their model P320, and the military versions the M17 and M18, just going off! There are hundreds of claims with a few injuries including now even a death of young Airman. A few gun-tubers did some testing and showed how and why the pistols are randomly going off leading to Sig pulling the gun from production and apologizing. 
No, that's what they should do. They instead blamed owners and operators for not knowing what they're doing and claiming youtubers were just trying to get famous off the situation. Not a great look for such a big Firearms maker.
Speaking of making fire, King of the Hill has returned to the air after 15 years of retirement. Hank, Bobby, and the Rainy Street gang have all come back as though they never left. Is this legacy reboot-quel worthy of the crown? Hulu seems to think so as they even went so far in promoting the show that they had famed southern podcaster Theo Von interview Hank Hill himself. You should check it out!

NOW YOU MADE IT AWKWARD Ep152: "The Gang is Back Together"

After what seems like a month we are back at full strength. Shoky, Jefe and Chaddo! 
We get caught up on the string of celebrity deaths including Ozzy Ozbourne, Hulk Hogan, Malcom Jamaal Warner and more that we didn't know about! 
We also give a short review of "Superman" by James Gunn. Did the new Big Blue Boyscout movie kick off the DCU with a bang? We liked it. We give our Good, Bad, Ugly and scores for the new Man of Tomorrow.
The gang also took the time to watch "Happy Gilmore 2" and let's say it's less good. Silly, at some times funny, and a little heart warming moments. And then there is the utterly absurd moments that probably do more harm than good. 
A movie that no one seems to have seen came out to streaming "Death of Unicorn" starring Jenna Ortega and Paul Rudd definitely deserved a better reception. A strange ride into a long weekend it the mountains with mythical creatures that terrify and temp those they come in contact with. 
Shoky also went to see "Fantastic 4: First Steps." Did the first family of Marvel flop? Or did Disney Marvel finally get back on the right track with his movie?

Chad asks what movies you can infinitely re-watch? And i ask if there are movies you will just immediately turn off? We also wonder what movie sequels are better than the first? Such as Empire Strikes Back, Terminator 2, Aliens, Two Towers.
Shoky brings up a theory about GREASE that Sandy was not saved by Danny and the whole movie is her dying fantasy. Do you think this theory has merit?
28 years Later has come out with significant updates to that movie universe.
A movie we have been looking forward to; Jurassic World Rebirth, seems to be getting negative reviews even only a couple days into its release. Is it real people hating the movie? Bots review bombing it? Or does it suck?
Within that same vein star of the movie Scarlett Johansson is tired of being objectified. Despite her appearance being the thing that got her to the highest paid actor of all time. On the flip side male actors, such as most super heroes, are also made famous for their looks. Particularly if they have to maintain a muscular physique for years on end to keep their roles. Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth and Henry Cavil all come to mind. But that is acceptable. Unlike being a beautiful woman in Hollywood being cast for her looks. Is it hypocrisy or lack of self awareness?
In US news: swimmer Lia (William) Thomas is being stripped of all his swimming awards as U-Penn is now banning men in women's sports after the Trump Admin threatened to strip funding from colleges that allow trans athletes to compete against females. The world seems to finally be correcting itself.
In World news: Trump was called "daddy" by a foreign diplomat lead to the question: is Trump the world's dad? He recently grew so impatient and angry and Iran and Israel that he cursed openly in front of reporters. Just like an angry dad done dealing with squabbling children.
There's been a major update to the Karmelo Anthony case as he has now been charged with 1st degree murder. And footage of the incident has been shared with a handful of reporters. The footage isn't great but it does seem to indicate that the story we were fed about self defense was all a lie. Despite this evidence the family is now asking for even MORE money from the public as sentiment and support is now turning on them.

NOW YOU MADE IT AWKWARD Ep149: "Just a Man in a Van With His Dog and Arsenal"

We are back from a crazy weekend at Frankenboltzzzz Brewing Co for the Boos Brews and BBQ event! Chad couldn't join us but we have a new friend who was there with us: Brad. 
Sad news to start the show with the passing of Misty: Shaun's sister in law. We also have a quick beer taste test with Weldworks and Toppling Goliath collaboration called Dino Bits. A hazy double IPA.
Rest in Peace Misty. We've been following her story for months via Shaun and sadly she lost to the cancer in the end. 
Shaun's asks us what sides people mess up the most at cook outs. Also do people mess them up or do you just not like it? What is your favorite side for a BBQ cookout?
Shoky finally watched MURDERBOY. Also on Appletv is the movie The Fountain of Youth starring John Krasinkski and Natalie Portman. We give it a short review. 
We discuss the very disturbing direction Kevin Smith has been going with his movies as of late. Such as "TUSK", "Yoga Hosers" and an upcoming movie called "MooseJaws." And you know if its a bad movie Jefe is going to love it.
Brad tries to tell is about series "The Old Man" and Jefe gets distracted talking about dogs....welcome to the show Brad lol. 
Speaking of disappointment: the trailer for "The Sandman" S2 has dropped. Getting us both excited for a return to this show, but sad knowing that it's all we get. Should Neil Gaiman dissociate from his work just so the world can continue to love it without him? Much like J.K. Rowling and Harry Potter. 
We also wonder if TV shows changing networks has fundamental effects on the show. Such as Scrubs or Supergirl. 
Apparently The Simpsons, after 35 years, plans on killing off Marge in the series finale? We discuss fun theories of how it should ending. Was it all a dream in Conan's mind on break while he wrote for FOX? Did the family die tragically 20 years ago in one of Homer's schemes and he has been a delusional state all along to spare himself the reality of the loss?
The more that comes out about the upcoming Superman movie, the more the internet trolls seems to hate it. 
Finally, with the acceleration of AI-created video Hollywood may be on its last days. When you no longer need actors or digital studios to make movies anymore what good is the age old studio system? In fact; actors would no longer need to be filmed. They could sell their likeness and voice and simply remain young on screen in perpetuity fueled by scripts written by you on the toilet listening to your favorite Awkward Podcast.

We are back this week discussing the news we missed last time. Over the last couple weekends there have been anti-ICE protests that became riots especially in California. And the following weekend a nationwide coordinated "No Kings" protest took place. Even here in our small city downtown was disrupted by people who feel the US is controlled by a would-be King. 
People on the Right argue for mass deportations of illegal immigrants while the Left argues to keep what is effectively modern day slave labor.
In that vein, Shaun asks us what we would feel if we were in the position of the National Guard and Marines being called in to defend against US citizens.
At the same time Israel and Iran decided it was their turn to start WW3 since India and Pakistan negotiated a peace deal. Meanwhile the US ARMY celebrated its 250th birthday with a massive parade and party in DC. 
Also Happy Birthday Mr President. 
We continue our discussion about #mensmentalhealth now that Chad has returned. We go over his bullying as a child, and how he is handling his anger and worry around his current struggles.

This isn't just edgy content, it's warping how men see themselves.
The Loneliness Epidemic-Today's men report fewer close friendships than ever before.Nearly 1 in 4 men say they have no close friends at all.Most rely on romantic partners for emotional support if they have one.Many male friendships lack emotional intimacy and vulnerability.
This isolation increases the risk for depression, addiction, and self-harm.
An Identity In Crisis-As gender roles evolve, many men are left wondering:- "If I'm not the provider, what am I?"- "What's my place in a world that criticizes masculinity?"- "Am I allowed to just.....be?"This Confusion can breed resentment, withdrawal, of defensiveness. NOW YOU MADE IT AWKWARD Ep146: "Public Display of P*rnography"

This week we talk about parental health issues. Shokys dad took and fall and Jefe's Mom might very had a heart attack. 
Last week's promo also angered my mother in law. You can't control who will find anger with the things you say and do. But it's how you deal with the anger that matters. We talk more about the Starbucks strike and how the economy seemingly is balancing. Prices are going down for some groceries and gas.
Jefe upgraded his van with an A/C system and made a face out of his back doors. Which is functional and funny. 
Chad also had an adventure being arrested this past weekend. He discusses the event.
Mike Rowe started a new show called "People You Should Know" and we give a run down on the first 3 episodes. Highly recommend giving it a watch. Luckily it's just on YouTube. 
There's an update to the Texas Renaissance Festival sale and King George situation. The King is dead. Seemingly he ended his own life right after losing the lawsuit. 
Speaking of; Canada has extended the MAID program to include children and teenagers. What kind of government would encourage people to end their lives? Also why are so many people even considering it? Have we lost hope or are people just bored and directionless?
In other Canadian news King Charles seemingly admitted that they've been on stolen land all this time and basically returned control to the native Canadians.
Also seems like corporations have given up on pushing PRIDE month. We prefer to think of it as Veterans Month. 
Shaun asks us what else compared to finding a good stick when we were kids? We also discuss how we as children would explore the world around us. Hiking through woods, playing in creeks, riding things down hills that weren't made for it. Etc.
The Distortus Rex from the upcoming Jurassic World: Rebirth has been revealed in all its mutated glory.  We can thank the movie toys for spoiling that.
In other disgusting news Bonnie Blue has announced that she plans to top her record of "sleeping" with 1000 men in 24 hours by doubling it to 2000 and making a whole public display of it. Meaning shooting an adult video in public with her literally being open to the public for random men to join in if they wish. What is happening to our world? When did it become so twisted and debaucherous?
The Superman Movie looks like it's doing rounds of reshoots and editing. Reportedly test screening dubbed it too humorous. Hopefully it's not just studio interference like Warner Brothers is known for. Onto of that the Voltron movie with Henry Cavill finished filming and we know nothing about it. The cast of the Harry Potter series on HBO has been revealed. Stirring up another controversy over race swapping character. We already had Snape being turned black, but is Hermione actually being race changed or is it just a bad picture for the young actress?
The Lilo and Stitch remake, while doing great box office numbers is getting harsh criticism for all the changes it made to the characters and the ending scene specifically. 
Finally Stranger Things returns this Holiday season. Wrapping up with 3 volumes. Can they stick the landing after such a long hiatus? Do you even remember the last season?
It's now confirmed that Doctor Who star Ncuti Gatwa did in fact not film a proper regeneration scene where the next doctor takes his place. Because no new Doctor actor was ever announced. Leaving things on a very confusing cliffhanger when suddenly Billie Piper's face suddenly replaced the exiting Doctor. Seemingly she is NOT playing the titular character. Whovians are now left wondering what the future holds for this 60+ year franchise after 2 abysmal seasons and lackluster ending.
